Non-Surgical Gum Treatment

This involves any technique that does not involve surgical processes.

Scaling and Planing: This is basically a careful, deep clean of the teeth. It removes plaque and tartar from periodontic pockets as well as smoothing the tooth root to eradicate bacteria. It often is the first step in treatment; follow-up treatment includes antimicrobial, antibiotic and host modulation as needed.

Tray Delivery: This involves a custom-fitted impression tray system that helps treat gum disease. With the tray, medications are applied to the patient’s mouth and infected or vulnerable areas. The goal is to eradicate bacteria as part of a daily or prescribed oral hygiene regimen.
